Spring Garden Waldorf School was founded in 1981 and is an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. SGWS serves 188 students from Pre-K through Grade 8. Our expanding curriculum includes Spanish, Choral, Orchestra, Woodwork, Handwork, Physical Education, Gardening and Extra Lesson.

Spring Garden is located on 12 rural acres near Akron, Ohio and is approximately 30 minutes from Cleveland. Strings Teacher

Spring Garden Waldorf School is seeking a part-time Strings and Orchestra Teacher. This person will be responsible for providing instruction to children in grades three through eight beginning in the fall of 2017.   The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher, who demonstrates the followings skill and knowledge: strings instruction, ensemble direction, music theory, music arrangement and transposition, knowledge of other orchestral instruments, and basic instrument maintenance. The successful candidate will demonstrate that he or she can create an engaging and well-structured curriculum and learning environment. We seek a colleague committed to building strong collegial and parent relationships, and someone who is committed to self-development. Bachelor’s degree required; Waldorf training and experience preferred. Work hours for the position are approximately 18 hours over three days.

Education Services Coordinator/School Psychologist

This is a part-time contract position providing support to students, parents, and faculty as well as coordination of the Education Support Team. We seek an individual that will be comfortable consulting with teachers, parents, and administration concerning classroom management, student learning, and behavior and emotional problems. The successful applicant must have a valid school psychology license from the Ohio Department of Education, prior experience as a school psychologist, and an interest in Waldorf education.

While the hours for substitutes vary, the earliest start time is 8:00 a.m. and the usual end time is 3:30 p.m.  However, substitutes in our Aftercare program work 3:00 – 6:00 p.m, and substitutes are needed both for full-day and half-day assignments.  Substitute teachers must have a bachelor’s degree, a current FBI/BCI check, and a Substitute Teacher’s License (though holders of a current Ohio Professional Teacher’s License or Non-Tax Certificate are exempt from having to obtain further licensing).
