Spring Garden Waldorf School was founded in 1981 and is an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. SGWS serves 188 students from Pre-K through Grade 8. Our expanding curriculum includes Spanish, Choral, Orchestra, Woodwork, Handwork, Physical Education, Gardening and Extra Lesson.

Spring Garden is located on 12 rural acres near Akron, Ohio and is approximately 30 minutes from Cleveland. Director of Development

SGWS is seeking a dynamic individual to join our administrative team as our Director of Development.  As a member of our administrative leadership team, this position supports and advances the valuable work and mission of our school.  Duties include planning and developing strategies, goal setting, coordination and evaluation of all key development efforts including philanthropic revenue generation, annual giving, fundraising events, alumni relations, communications materials, and grants.  This individual will work as chief fundraiser of the school, personally identify, cultivate and develop meaningful relationships with potential funding sources and community partnerships.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: proven success in setting and meeting fundraising goals; knowledge and experience identifying and cultivating prospects, and managing all aspects of donor stewardship including tracking, reporting and database development and management; excellent communication skills; and the ability to work and interact effectively with many different types of people.
This full-time, salaried position requires at least three years of experience in fundraising.  Bachelor’s Degree required with experience in Waldorf Education preferred.  Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Substitutes

While the hours for substitutes vary, the earliest start time is 8:00 a.m. and the usual end time is 3:30 p.m.  However, substitutes in our Aftercare program work 3:00 – 6:00 p.m, and substitutes are needed both for full-day and half-day assignments.  Substitute teachers must have a bachelor’s degree, a current FBI/BCI check, and a Substitute Teacher’s License (though holders of a current Ohio Professional Teacher’s License or Non-Tax Certificate are exempt from having to obtain further licensing).
