Spring Garden Waldorf School was founded in 1981 and is an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. SGWS serves 188 students from Pre-K through Grade 8. Our expanding curriculum includes Spanish, Choral, Orchestra, Woodwork, Handwork, Physical Education, Gardening and Extra Lesson.

Spring Garden is located on 12 rural acres near Akron, Ohio and is approximately 30 minutes from Cleveland. An established school of more than 30 years, Spring Garden is proud to have healthy finances, strong enrollment and a Board of Trustees committed to consistently improving faculty benefits. Spring Garden Waldorf School is now hiring for the following positions:

Early Childhood Assistant (am) and Extended Care Lead Teacher (pm): This combined position will work closely with an experienced teacher to deliver a Waldorf Early Childhood experience to a small group of students. Our early childhood program will be held mostly outdoors this school year. Morning responsibilities include assisting the lead teacher, setting up the classroom (indoor and/or outdoors), preparing snacks, and supporting the rhythm of the classroom. Afternoon responsibilities include leading the class through lunch, rest, snack, and outdoor play. Bachelor’s degree required, Waldorf Teacher/Lifeways certification preferred. Work hours: Monday through Friday and from 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Grades Assistant: Duties include assisting the lead teachers with class one activities during main lesson and subject classes to include reinforcement of lead teacher direction, working with students that need additional assistance, and guiding the class during transitions. Assistant will also supervise snack and recess periods for the first grade and other classes as needed. If distance learning is in place, assistant duties will shift to support teachers during live lessons or helping individual students as needed. Bachelor’s degree and experience working with children required, experience with Waldorf education preferred. Work hours: Monday through Friday from 8:15 am-3:15 pm.

Aftercare Specialist: Duties include providing after school care to students from Pre-K through Class 8. Applicants should have direct experience working with children, an education background and an understanding of Waldorf education. Work hours: Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00 pm.
